Black Iguana is now at some of San Antonio’s military commissaries: Lackland AFB and Ft. Sam Houston. The commissaries sell groceries and household goods to active–duty, Guard, Reserve, and retired service families at an average savings of more than 30% when compared to prices at local civilian supermarkets.
Lackland AFB is home of the 37th Training Wing — the largest training wing in the Air Force. Its four primary training functions graduate more than 86,000 students annually. Lackland AFB has over 120 units. Only 36 of those units are assigned to the 37th Training Wing. Another 22 units make up Air Reserve Command’s 433d Airlift Wing. Under the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency and the 67th Network Warfare Wing, there are 18 Air Combat Command units stationed at Lackland. The remaining units at Lackland are within the 59th Medical Wing, the Texas Air National Guard’s 149th Fighter Wing, and other tenant units, agencies and centers.
Fort Sam Houston is known as the “Home of Army Medicine“, providing space for a major medical treatment facility, medical research and education activities, as well as medical training and operations commands supporting worldwide Army medical care for Soldiers and their families.
