Readers Choice Award Goes to Black Iguana!

Part of the Houston Business Journal’s four-day Celebrate!Enterprise program, the first annual Houston Idea*Ation Awards held at the Wortham Center on May 14 recognized some incredibly ingenious products and services developed by business entrepreneurs from the Greater Houston Area.

Sponsored by Sterling Bank, Oracle, the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University, the Jones Partners and Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, the awards were made in 12 categories encompassing most areas of business and industry in the Houston area.

Black Iguana Won the Readers Choice Award in the Retail/Consumer Category!

The Black Iguana team table — the most visibly fun and raucous table — included Earl, Paul, Curtis, John, Solomon, Chris, Gloria, Marcus, Lucretia, and Darrell.

We brought our subtle advertising — we all sported Black Iguana pouches clipped to lanyards, showcased Black Iguana 4-Packs as table center-pieces, and propped up two 3-ft cutouts of Black Iguana pouches for more impact!

On top of that, Paul brought a case of Black Iguanas to pass out. And that raised the buzz level! It didn’t take long before all the 4-Packs were gone! Lots of sad faces when that happened.

Curtis and Paul accepted the Readers Choice Award on behalf of the entire Black Iguana team. Curtis’ acceptance speech was awesome! Within a few minutes he had the entire audience excited about Black Iguana, soon-to-be the next biggest global sensation! Way-to-go !

Black Iguana (DGI Beverage, LLC) is extremely proud to be have been selected as one of the 3 finalists in the Retail/Consumer Category. TODO Texas Magazine and the Men’s Wearhouse were the other 2 finalists in this category. The judges award for this category went to TODO Texas Magazine.

Congratulations to the entire Black Iguana team! We definitely entertained, connected, and inspired!
